Taking a European company into the US market
An Irish sports-tech company sells athlete-monitoring hardware, but its main revenue driver is the recurring software subscription that comes with it. It had a small North American footprint, only a couple of MLB and NHL teams, and one consultant on the ground with little traction: no sales team, no playbook, and a buyer (strength and conditioning staff) who is skeptical and pitched constantly. The US is where most European tech companies stall: a different buyer, a different sales cycle, and no local credibility.
What I did
Put the device in coaches' hands through demos and pilots, turned every pro win into the reference for the next team, worked the S&C conference circuit, and kept volume up between events with cold outbound into colleges, clinics and facilities.
Result
Turned a small US foothold into sustainable growth: NA sales grew 10x with 125+ deals in 13 months, each one adding recurring subscription revenue (ARR). Opened the NFL, NBA and NASCAR, added more MLB and NHL teams and Power 5 universities, and signed coaches of top tennis players. Signed top private performance facilities across the US and Canada, led a major expansion into high school and fitness, and built strategic partnerships in education and the military.
